Thirukkadithanam is one of the 108 Divya Desams
of Lord Vishnu located in Changanassery, Kottayam, Kerala.

Sahadeva, one of the Pancha Pandavas from the Great Epic Mahabharath

The legend has that King Rukmangadha was a
righteous ruler from the Solar Dynasty.
He was a zealous devotee of Lord Vishnu; he honored Sages and Vedic
Brahmins. His Kingdom flourished with rich
natural resources and the people were lived a prosperous life. His uprightness brought admirers from Earth
as well as Indra Loka. Lord Indra wanted
to test the virtues of King Rukmangadha and assigned the task to Maharishi
Narada. Maharishi Narada was received by
the King with all honors and respect.
King Rukmangadha washed the feet of Maharishi, offered him a highly
regarded seat and adorned him with a unique and fascinating flower garland. Maharishi Narada was highly overwhelmed at
the humbleness of Rukmangadha and returned to Indra Loka. Lord Indra was deeply dissatisfied, decided
to have possession of the rare and alluring flowers of various fragrances from
King Rukmangadha’s garden. He sent his
men on this mission and they succeeded.
In this way, Lord Indra enjoyed the company of enthralling flowers of
various fragrances for quite some time.
King’s men reported about the missing of flowers to King Rukmangadha. Though the King appointed more squads to investigate
on this matter, but everything went on vain.
At last, the squads captured the celestial servants of Lord Indra, as a
result they lost their divinity and remained on Earth. The virtuous King Rukmangadha observed
Ekadashi Vrata faithfully and acquired merits; with the devoutness he had
earned send back the celestial servants to Indra Loka.
This temple remains open from 5.00AM to 11.00PM
in the morning and 5.00PM to 8.00PM in the evenings.
